Few months back, a request came to Srivatsan Chari (Co-founder, Cleartax) that the marketing team needed help in redesigning the newsletter. He asked me if there was anyone in the design team who could help. That evening I had some time to spare, so I picked up the task myself and created a mock-design for the newsletter. I placed a Comic strip as a placeholder for a content segment that could be light and breezy. And without putting in much thought, named it “Just Like That”

Well the team loved the idea of a comic :) And it has since become a regular feature. The Edge newsletter by Cleartax is a weekly newsletter for our customers. Last week it completed 20 editions!

So here are the first 20 Just Like That comics:

JUST LIKE THAT #01
JUST LIKE THAT #02 — In the right panel is Harsh Goenka, whose tweet on the subject of GST(Goods and Service Tax) on Papad (Indian snack) went viral and created a stir, and on the left the reporter is seen wearing a Tee with the logo of Lijjat Papad.
JUST LIKE THAT #03
JUST LIKE THAT #04
JUST LIKE THAT #05
JUST LIKE THAT #06 — The character of the Boss in the left panel was received quite well and he became a regular appearance.
JUST LIKE THAT #07
JUST LIKE THAT #08
JUST LIKE THAT #09
JUST LIKE THAT #10 — This comic was topical — about the Elon Must Twitter deal.
JUST LIKE THAT #11 — This is when almost the entire nation was under a heat wave. Well except Bangalore :)
JUST LIKE THAT #12
JUST LIKE THAT #13
JUST LIKE THAT #14 — Form 16/ 16A is the certificate of deduction of tax at source.
JUST LIKE THAT #15 — This artwork is inspired by Kim Warp’s cartoon for New Yorker! I have been in love with New Yorker for a long time now. In fact — I think, the idea to put a comic in the newsletter in the mock design might have something to do with my love for the New Yorker cartoons.
JUST LIKE THAT #16 — Needless to say I’m a Marvel fan :)
JUST LIKE THAT #17 — Again topical on the Elon Musk Twitter deal, and a “callback” to the comic #10
JUST LIKE THAT #18 — Those who know, know!
JUST LIKE THAT #19
JUST LIKE THAT #20

PS: There are a bunch of funnier and more intelligent folks at Cleartax, who have helped me in coming up with the copies of these comics.
